Local Energy has evolved from successful projects run by the LGiU. These projects have helped to raise awareness amongst participants and shaped government policy. Here are some examples of the innovative pilots that have run since we began working on carbon trading in 2007.
Local Energy is now recruiting for Carbon Trading Public Sector 2010/11
Carbon Trading Public Sector This is a virtual carbon trading network of over 100 public sector organisations.
Carbon Trading Yorkshire This is a virtual carbon trading network of over 40 public and private sector organisations sponsored and supported by CO2SenseYorkshire.
Community Carbon Trading This is a new project, whose aim is to bring communities and government together to deliver real carbon emission reduction. The communities in question can be from a certain area or schools or businesses or even an organisation's employees. Trials are currently being run.
Carbon Trading Councils This was the first virtual carbon trading network. There were 34 local authorities who traded for a year. The results are available in the report Taking Stock.
